Hospital

Today is the day we had to take Parker to Children's Hospital for some tests. He couldn't eat or drink after 10:00am, and wasn't going to get a nap so we decided to do something to take his mind off of things before we left for the hospital. We went to Brookdale and played at the little playland there and he seemed to have a good time.
This picture is at the hospital. He looked so cute in his little gown. He actually did quite well. He was fine during the ultrasound and then he got nitrous oxide for the insertion of the catheter and they did some x-rays. He actually did quite well. He was a little fussy and cried a little, but I'm sure he was tired and hungry and uncomfortable. But the good news is that he is 100% healthy!! The UTI must have been a fluke, and they said he may or may not ever get one again, but he is PERFECT!!!!!
We are so glad to have this over and done.......

Baby Paige

Today we went to Auntie Candi and Uncle Brian's house to see baby Paige. Paige and Parker are technically second cousins since Candi is Parker's first cousin. But because of the whole age difference we call Candi Auntie! Parker seemed like he wanted to see Paige, but then when he got close to her he wasn't so sure. Daddy sat with Parker to make sure everything went ok. I'm sure by next summer these 2 will be getting into all kinds of trouble together!

Monkey Boy

Today Parker figured out how to climb his changing table. Now he does it every 10 minutes and every time you turn your back. He hasn't tried getting down yet (thank God) but I'm sure that will be soon enough. He is so proud of himself when he gets up there too!!

2 Year Check-Up

Parker had his 2 year check-up today. He is 37.5 inches long, weighs 31 lbs 8 oz. He is above the 95th percentile for both. His doctor wasn't very concerned that he doesn't talk much. She said boys usually talk later than girls and as long as he understands things we are saying or tell him to do she isn't worried. She said that since he doesn't spend very much time with other little kids he might talk later also. If in 3 months he doesn't seem to be talking more we can have some hearing tests done. She said he seems very smart. She was more concerned about his Urinary Tract Infection since it is so rare for boys. Next week he has to go to Children's Hospital in Minneapolis to have some tests done and Matt and I are a little freaked out because he will have to be "put under" for one of the tests. But they need to make sure nothing is wrong with his kidneys. I'm sure I will be a crying mess. I'm worried for my little boy.

Little "Helper"

Today we went to Grandma Jenny's to "help" with the garage sale, (you can imagine how much help a 2 year old is, or a mother who constantly has to stop a curious 2 year old from getting into trouble) but we managed to stay about 2 hours!! Parker likes going to see "papa" and loves running around the huge yard. There is so much to see and do there. By the time we got home it was lunch time and off to nappy land.

Eat Cake

Lots O' Presents

This is just 1 of the many presents Parker received!

Birthday Party!!!

Today was Parker's Birthday Party! The day didn't start off so great, we decided that I should probably bring Parker to Urgent Care because he was causing somewhat of a scene when he would "go potty" and he seemed very distressed about it. Turns out he has a bladder infection and he is now on some meds. It didn't seem to ruin his day though. His party was a lot of fun. The guests: Grandma & Grandpa C, Grandma & Grandpa O, Great Aunt Lina, Auntie Candi, Auntie Maureen & Cousin Lee & Clair, Shanna, Roger, Kim & Quillan, Amy & Jason. He got lots of great presents, we had Little Caesars Pizza, and cake & ice cream. The party started at 4:00 and the last guests left at around 7:15. I still can't believe my baby is 2!

Shark Attack

We put Parker's Shark Tent together, although it's not perfect, and it was more difficult than one might think.......He really seems to like it though.

Little Swimmer

Today Parker and I went to Grandma Nan's with Auntie Candi and Cousin Lee. I have known Grandma Nan.......well, since before I was born. She's not really my grandma, but that's what we call her. Parker usually LOVES the water but he was afraid to be in the pool unless I let him cling to me like a baby monkey. He had more fun throwing balls at us from the side......I guess we'll have to go swimming more so he gets used to a big pool!

Boys Will Be Boys

Today we went to Marla's house, she has a son named Jonas (the one sitting alone on bench) and Dawn and Alex (sitting next to Parker) were there too. I met Dawn and Marla through the Twin Cities Stay At Home Mom's Group, and even though I've never actually gone to a "group" function, we have gotten together with these guys a few times. Alex and Jonas are both a couple months older than Parker. The boys played and ate lunch and then they all decided to get naked and run in the sprinkler. 3 cute little butts running around. A good time was had by all.

Today was a good day.....

Parker, Lee and I met my friend Shanna at the gym and Parker & Lee played in the daycare there. We came home and discovered how much Parker loves play-doh. We got to watch the Curious George Movie and I think it's my new favorite, Matt and Parker really liked it too! Parks was very "huggy" today with both Matt and I as well as Phoebe and Kitty. Of course we played outside in the water. We read some books and once again Parks went to bed screaming and crying. I feel sorry for parents who have to deal with that every night......he was great about going to bed until we took the nuk away....he didn't even care when we took the bottle away. Oh well, this will pass I'm sure!Parker playing "barber" with cousin Lee

Opening Presents

My Baby Is 2

Today Parker turned 2. He started his day with Grandma Jenny and Lee. He went to see Great Grandma Marie. After Matt and I got home from work we let Parks open some of his presents.....Curious George The Movie, Curious George pajama's, Curious George shirt and shorts, 2 books, a shark tent, play-doh, watering can and garden tools (he LOVES that kind of stuff), and some other clothes. We then played outside in the sprinkler, or I should say Lee and Parker did. Then Matt, me, Parker, Auntie Candi, and cousin Lee went to Perkins for dinner. After dinner Parker got his last present from us, a bike. He was very excited, but still a little unsure how to ride it. He didn't care though, he just wanted to sit on it! That was followed by more sprinkler time. We read a few books and Parker went to bed screaming and crying.

4th Of July

Today we celebrated the 4th by going to Home Depot, and Parker wore his hard hat to the store, people there loved it! Then we went to Broadway Park in Crystal, we had never been there, it was a pretty nice park. We also spent about 5 hours outside today playing in the water. Parks has cute tan lines from his little swimmer diaper. We then made hamburgers and cheddar brats on the grill. Just put him to bed and I have to say that the last couple days have been rough at nap time and at night. Screaming-bloody-murder-fits! But luckily they only last for a few minutes. Tomorrow my baby will be 2.

Secret Service

These are Cousin Lee's spy glasses from Washington DC

Good Night Washington DC

Today Cousin Lee came over and things were back to normal since he wasn't here yesterday. Parker LOVES cousin Lee and asks for him every day, several times a day. When Auntie Maureen dropped Lee off she gave Parker a book she bought on her weekend work trip to Washington DC. Matt is reading the book to him, it is called Good Night Washington DC.

Another Face Injury

Parker, Matt , and Phoebe were "rough housing" on the bed and Parker got the worst of it right above his lip. It happened just as I was saying how I was going to take him to get his 2 Year pictures tomorrow. Guess that's not happening. I swear this kid gets more face and head injuries than anyone.

Little Artist

So, I got Parker an early birthday present. A new table and chairs that are just his size. This whole blog thing is new to me so I feel the need to write every little thing that happens. I'm sure the novelty of it will wear off soon enough. He is very excited to have a table to sit and color at. He keeps coming over to me and choosing different crayons.

WOW! We are lucky.

Night two of Parker being Nuk free was great. About 3 minutes of fussing when we put him to bed and not another peep from him all night. He slept over 11 hours. We are so lucky to have such a great little boy!

Hard Hat Zone

Today we took out the tool bench Grandma Christiansen bought Parker last summer--he was a little to young for it then, we also took out the metal Tonka Truck that one of my co-workers Kristy bought him for my baby shower. The truck came with a hard hat that he wore for about 2 hours this morning. He used his tools to fix his wagon, and his truck. It kept him busy for hours!

The Morning After.......

Really? Was it really that easy to take the nuk away? I am skeptical. After the one minor meltdown Parker was quiet for 10 hours and we all got a great nights sleep. He did ask for his nuk first thing when he woke up, but he was quickly over it.
